1960s by Andrew Farley, Anatolian, 500 pieces (puzzle review)

My first Anatolian puzzle, acquired during the Puzzles Canada sale at the beginning of last month. I loved the image and wanted to try the brand!

The print quality was very good -- crisp and clear and vibrant. The cardboard-backed pieces were nice and thick and sturdy and felt very durable. There was some variety in piece shape, although there was a preponderance of the 2-in / 2-out type. Very little puzzle dust. Fit was good, but on the loose side. The finished dimensions are fairly small for a 500 piece puzzle at only 13" x 19".

No poster, but there was an included box stand for those who like that. The front of the box stand has a missing piece form (more on that in a moment), while the back of the stand features pictures of other Anatolian puzzles and instructions on how to use the stand. It is noteworthy that Anatolian offers to replace missing puzzle pieces free of charge. All one needs to do is complete the form on the box stand or online. There are instructions on the back of the box as to how to indicate which piece you are missing (hint: if you've ever played Battleship, it's a similar concept!).

Overall, this puzzle was great fun and good quality! The loose fit might bother some puzzlers, but it works with my puzzling style. I really enjoyed this image especially and would gladly do more Anatolian puzzles in the future. I'd like to see them offer more images of this style, including in higher piece counts. For some reason, their images don't always quite appeal to me, but this one was 100% up my alley with its colorful and varied details. All told, a great first experience with this brand!
